Shuffle a list or pick random winners

One item per line. Randomize the whole list into a new order, or draw a set of winners — duplicates included unless you remove them.

    How to use it

    1. Paste or type one item per line. Blank lines are ignored, and the list holds up to 1,000 items of 80 characters each.
    2. Press Randomize order to shuffle every item into a new numbered order. Duplicates are kept; use Remove duplicates first if you want each item once.
    3. Or type how many you need and press Pick winners. The winners are drawn without repeats and shown in the order they were drawn.
    4. Copy the result or download it as a .txt file. The list is not uploaded and is not saved between visits.

    Questions

    Is every order equally likely?

    Yes. The shuffle gives every item the same chance at every position, and Pick winners draws without repeats, so no item can appear twice in one draw.

    Are duplicate lines removed?

    No. Duplicates count as separate items, which is useful when the same name should have two chances. Press Remove duplicates to keep just the first of each line.

    What does Pick winners do exactly?

    It draws the number you ask for, at random, without repeats, and lists them in the order they were drawn. The rest of the list stays untouched.

    Where does the list go?

    Nowhere. Parsing, shuffling and picking happen in your browser; the list is not uploaded, stored or shared.
